After a two year hiatus, Hamilton’s Sheepvention was back with a bang with the Elders marquee awarded the Best Outdoor Corporate Trade Site.
There was a ‘ram’ packed schedule in the Elders tent with Chief Financial Officer Tania Foster continuing to share information about the world first Elders Wool Handling Project. This will see Elders invest over $25 million in the project creating a more sustainable, efficient business for both wool buyers and wool growers.
The crowds packed in to see the ‘Southern Clip of the Year’ Awards which recognises wool growers for their quality and clip presentation and is selected from over 2,000 clients across the Southern region.

Alongside the wool team, our stud stock team fired up for the annual ram sale which drew a large crowd in the sheep pavilion. With a total of 85 Corriedale and Merino lots on offer, there was clearance of 75 lots totalling $320,250 with an average of $4,270.
The highest price was lot 72 at $26,000 by Yarrawonga Poll Merino and purchased by Warralea Poll Merino, Gairdner WA, through Elders Dubbo. Lot 74 sold for $16,000 by Yarrawonga Poll Merino. Lot 12 sold for $14,000 by Langdene Merino. A fantastic result for all the hard work of our producers.
Sheepvention was not only a great opportunity to hear about the current state of the sheep industry but also to network and catch up with other growers from across the country.
Elders Hamilton Branch Manager, Lachy Patterson said “it was fantastic to have Sheepvention back, bigger and better. It’s great to catch up with all our clients and for clients to catch up with other farmers.”
As well as all things wool, we were thrilled to welcome Elders Livestock Production Manager Rob Inglis, who presented on animal health and the current threat of FMD and also Dr Thakur Bhattarai from the Thomas Elder Institute who presented on the Elders Carbon Farming Program.
