The Elders 2027 Graduate Agronomy Program is welcoming applications from aspiring agronomists looking to embark on a fulfilling career in agriculture.
For more than 185 years, Elders has stood alongside farming families, supported regional communities and helped shape Australian agriculture. The graduate program continues this legacy by investing in the next generation of agronomists, innovators and industry leaders.
The two-year development programme gives participants the opportunity to learn from experienced agronomists and develop the practical skills needed to support growers across Australia.
From day one, participants are paired with dedicated mentors and technical specialists. Side by side, they work on real client outcomes, gain exposure to different cropping systems and develop trusted relationships with growers, while having access to a network of industry professionals invested in their success.
Alex Greetham, Elders' Chief Agronomist, said that the programme has evolved to provide graduates with a more meaningful and supportive development experience.
'This year, we've developed the programme to offer graduates a more meaningful experience. Rather than moving people on every six months, we focus on integrating them into their local team and community from the outset,’ he said.
'This allows graduates to build strong relationships, gain local knowledge, and access the right support networks. We want to create the best possible conditions for them to grow, develop and thrive as agronomists.'
As agriculture continues to evolve, innovation remains central to the role of the modern agronomist. Through the program, graduates gain exposure to emerging technologies, research and precision agriculture tools, helping them develop the skills needed to support growers in an increasingly complex farming environment.
While the program is designed to develop strong agronomic capability, the opportunities it creates extend well beyond the paddock. Graduates gain exposure to a broad range of career pathways, including roles in agronomy, advisory services, technical and specialist positions, research and innovation, business development and leadership roles within the Elders network.
"We want graduates to build strong technical and commercial capability while receiving the support and guidance they need to succeed. Our goal is to develop agronomists who can create long-term value for growers, contribute to their local communities and build rewarding careers within the agricultural industry," Alex added.
Applications for the Elders 2027 Graduate Agronomy Program close at 11:00pm (ACST) on 30 June 2026. Opportunities are available across Elders' national network in regional and rural locations, with successful applicants commencing the program in February 2027.
