At the Tosari Crop Research Station in southeast Queensland, the 2025 Elders and Nutrien Ag Solutions Field Day on 9 October brought together over 150 agronomists, growers, suppliers, and industry leaders.

The event showcased the latest in crop protection, nutrition, and technology, with a strong emphasis on practical application. Attendees saw a range of new and existing chemistry infield, looked at new canola hybrids, traits and technologies, and learnt about new and established nutrition, biostimulants and biological products in durum wheat and chickpeas.
Elders Chief Agronomist Alex Greetham said the day created a hub for information sharing and relationship building across different parts of the sector.
“Field days like this are important to our organisation for the knowledge transfer and relationship networks, from our suppliers right through our agronomy team,” he said.
“It’s a great base for our agronomy team to share knowledge and ideas from different regions and look at new chemistries coming through from our supply partners.”
The diversity of Queensland’s soil types and farming conditions made the supplier-led seminars particularly valuable.
Alex said Elders agronomists were able to hear about product applications across different zones, so they can take those insights back to the paddock.
“There’s a lot to take home, and agronomists from different zones can apply those solutions for their own clients in their own regions.”
Beyond the technical content, the event fostered collaboration and community within the agronomy sector.
“One of the key takeaways from the day is about the network and the whole group getting together,” Alex said.
“I’ve seen a lot of networking within the pink shirt team and sharing ideas, and I think that is an absolute key focus for driving our agronomy offering forward.”
