Elders once again played a prominent role at the 2025 Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) Beef Week, continuing its proud sponsorship of the prestigious Shields of Excellence.
Elders QLD/NT Stud Stock Specialist, Andrew Meara, presenting the Elders Shield of Excellence to the Champion of Champions Stud Bull ‘Te-Angie Turbo T004', owned by Richard Ogilvile, at this year’s Ekka event.
The Shields of Excellence are awarded to the Grand Champion Bull and Grand Champion Cow or Heifer in each category, celebrating the highest achievements in the stud cattle competition.
Anthony Ball, Elders Queensland and Northern Territory Stud Stock Agent, said the Shields of Excellence had long been a significant part of Elders’ involvement in the Ekka.
“It is an initiative Elders has supported for many, many decades, and one we are quite proud of,” Anthony said.
“The overall supreme male and female exhibitors, across all breeds, take home an Elders Shield of Excellence as a memento to remind them of what an achievement it is to win a Royal Show.”
Anthony said the Royal Queensland Show remained one of the key events in the agricultural calendar.
“The Royal Agricultural Show is the heartbeat of agriculture in this state,” he said.
“With over 1,000 head of stud stock on display, it was a fantastic atmosphere and a great crowd. Congratulations to all the exhibitors; it was a great event and a great display of stud cattle, and we were proud to be part of it.”
Elders also celebrated the achievements of three of its Territory Sales Managers, Tom Cameron (Elders Winton), Beau White (Elders Clermont), and Jack Dougherty (Elders Dalby), who competed in the 2025 ALPA Queensland Young Auctioneers Competition during the Ekka Beef Week. The trio delivered impressive performances, showcasing professionalism, talent, and a deep passion for the industry.
Scott Mawn, Elders Queensland and Northern Territory State Livestock Manager, commended the finalists on their efforts.
“Tom, Beau and Jack did a great job representing themselves and Elders,” Scott said.
“Each of them brought energy and confidence to the ring. It was fantastic to see so many of our team turn out to support them. There was a great sense of pride and unity among the Elders crowd.”
With strong performances in the Young Auctioneers Competition, the presentation of the Shields of Excellence, and a week-long celebration of the beef industry, 2025 Ekka Beef Week proved to be another outstanding event for Elders.
