Elders delivers value for clients at Beef Australia 2024

Elders’ presence as a Principal Partner of Beef24 has delivered significant value for producers throughout the week-long event.

Elders is proud to be a Principal Partner of Beef Australia, an event held every three years in celebration of the Australian beef industry. Throughout the week-long event, Elders hosted a series of activities, events, sales and seminars, all of which were popular among the strong contingent in attendance. 

On Tuesday afternoon, Elders CEO and Managing Director Mark Allison facilitated a panel session about fostering high performing cultures within regional businesses and communities. Mark was joined by Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur and consultant Julia Spicer OAM, CEO of the North Queensland Cowboys, Jeff Reibel, and General Manager of Consolidate Pastoral Company’s Indonesian operations, William Bulo. 

Later in the day, the Elders Pavilion came alive to celebrate Elders’ 185th year supporting farming communities. 

Elders Stud Stock Agent Lincoln McKinlay said “it was great to see so many clients from Queensland and New South Wales take the time out of such a busy Beef24 schedule to help us acknowledge 185 years of operation in livestock and rural Australia.” 

The next morning, a brand-new partnership between Elders and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) was launched at a breakfast to a strong crowd of 171. 

Elders State General Manager Qld/NT Lisa Hewitt said the new partnership underpins Elders’ commitment to the rural communities of Queensland. 

“It was wonderful to be able to bring together two organisations which share mutual connections into regional QLD. Quite often Elders customers stories are intertwined with the stories of the RFDS services,” Lisa said.

“We heard directly from Mick & Ben Hewitt that they only have comfort doing business where they do in remote areas because of the support and access that both organisations, Elders and the Flying Doctor, give them to run their business efficiently and safely.”

Behind the scenes, the wider Elders team was busy fundraising for the RFDS, with a total of almost $18,500 raised through a cattle crush raffle, kindly donated by Leicht’s CIA, coffee, caps and cattle cane sales, and ticket sales from the breakfast.

Elders held a ‘Tech Talk’ on Thursday morning, centred around carbon farming and ensuring that an agricultural approach is considered. 

Head of Thomas Elder Sustainable Agriculture David McKeon facilitated the panel, on which Elders National Carbon Farming Technical Manager Dr Thakur Bhattarai also took part. 

“Our Carbon Farming Tech Talk at Beef24 was a great platform to bring producers and industry experts together to help kickstart their carbon farming journey,” David said.

“Elders carbon farming initiatives must have an agricultural approach, and therefore that requires a level of understanding of what the options are, gaining necessary advice and identifying how carbon farming can provide tailored, positive outcomes for the grower.”

Elders clients also saw success in the various sales and competitions held throughout the week. Valued clients Mac and Gayle Shann went home with two ribbons at the Commercial Cattle Championship. Read more about the sale and how Elders supports the Shanns’ business.

Elders Stud Stock Agent Anthony Ball said the event is a great opportunity for producers to gain exposure.

“Beef Australia is the premier event for our industry,” Anthony said.

“It’s been pleasing to see so many of our longstanding clients in attendance, and also fantastic to see those involved achieve strong results across cattle breed judging, commercial championships and those vendors who had lots in specific breed sales.
