Elders and Cowboys partnership set to spotlight rural communities

Elders and the North Queensland Cowboys will this year take their partnership to the next level, getting involved in a range of initiatives as part of Beef Australia.

Elders has been proud to hold a long-term partnership with the Cowboys, and as Silver Partners this year, both organisations are looking forward to coming together at Beef Australia in May.

Now retired premiership-winning captain of the Cowboys Gavin Cooper will join the team at the Elders Pavilion, and will be available to meet fans and sign footballs.

Elders is also delighted that Chief Executive Officer of the Cowboys, Jeff Reibel, will join a panel session facilitated by Elders Queensland and NT General Manager Lisa Hewitt. The panel will focus on high performance cultures and how they impact regional communities, discussing the elements and attributes needed to foster high performing cultures within our businesses and communities in our regions – book your tickets now.

Lisa explained that the Elders and Cowboys partnership is a natural fit, particularly considering both organisations’ links to rural communities.

“When I look at the Cowboys and what they mean to regional and rural Australia, and the behaviours that they display and the investment they put back into the community, it was a very natural fit for Elders,” Lisa said.

“Elders has been part of rural and remote Australia for 185 years, and it's really important that we continue providing career pathways and futures to the people of regional Queensland. We, along with the Cowboys, want kids from remote communities to grow up and feel like an NRL jersey isn’t actually all that far away.”

In addition to the partnership with the Cowboys, Elders will also sponsor a room of The Cowboys House in Townsville, a culturally-safe boarding facility for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children attending partner schools in Townsville.

Chief Executive of the Cowboys Jeff Reibel explained that he is delighted to again be partnering with Elders.

“Together, the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and Elders have championed initiatives that have supported the growth and development of rural and regional communities throughout Queensland,” Jeff said.

“Given our long-term partnership, we are thrilled to join Elders at Beef Australia 2024 to celebrate all that is great about Australia’s largest rural industry.”

Lisa said the Elders team in Queensland is very pleased to again be involved in Beef Australia, with plenty of excitement as they gear up for the big week.

“The beef industry is a significant contributor to Australia's GDP, and a lot of that comes out of not only Queensland but in particular central Queensland, and so Beef Week is a great celebration of that industry and what it contributes to all of our livelihoods,” Lisa said.

“The benefits don’t flow just to beef producers, but all parts of the agricultural value chain.”
