The event, BBQ, Boots & Backing the West, offered a free, full day of entertainment, health services, and connection. Held at Bulloo Park on Thursday 3 July, it brought together pastoralists, farming families, local organisations, and Queensland sporting legends to uplift flood-affected communities across Western Queensland.
Event highlights included:
- Junior rugby league training sessions with Cowboys legend Gavin Cooper
- Free health checks
- Barbeque lunch and dinner
- A free evening concert by Australian country music icon James Blundell.

Lisa Hewitt, Elders General Manager Queensland, reflected on the day saying, “This was more than just a day out, it was a celebration of community resilience and a chance to reconnect families who have been isolated from flooding for months.
“Elders was proud to stand beside our partners and the people of Quilpie to support recovery and wellbeing in the west.”
Elders also announced a donation to fund a new travelling irrigator for the Thargomindah football ground.
