Innovation at Work is a pilot project co-funded by Elders and Hort Innovation, through their Hort Frontiers program.
The aim of the project is to explore methods of sharing information and improve the awareness and uptake of innovation and best practice management in horticultural production, both for growers and Elders’ advisors.
The project is delivered by Elders, through their research and innovation arm Thomas Elder Sustainable Agriculture (TESA), via a range of trials and demonstrations investigating new practices, products and technologies.
The future of strawberry farming
A recent field event at Mt Barker Strawberries in the Adelaide Hills demonstrated how drones and autonomous vehicles could enhance sustainable farm management practices.
Attendees watched Burro, an autonomous vehicle designed to reduce labour costs on farms. They also witnessed the effect of a drone used to spray vermiculite used to help the spread of predatory mites as part of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
