Five minutes with Emily Sim

Emily Sim joins the Elders Emms Mooney team in Bathurst with a rich background in property management and sales.

After building her career in Sydney’s inner suburbs, Emily Sim, is about to call one of her favourite destinations home by taking a role in Bathurst to service the real estate market of the Central West.

With a career that spans various roles in real estate, Emily has extensive experience that she now hopes to bring to servicing the local Bathurst community.

“Throughout my career I’ve filled almost every role the industry has to offer giving me a breadth of experience that I use every day,” she said.

At a pinnacle point of her career Emily established her own agency in Balmain, marking her first venture into sales.

“The agency proved to be extremely successful in a short amount of time. We were an auction agency in one of Sydney’s blue-chip markets, consistency of service is what set us apart at an early stage.” she said.

“After five years, I sold my agency at the height of the market when I was presented with an opportunity to move into the corporate sector.”

Emily transitioned to a national role as Chief Executive with one of Australia’s largest real estate franchises. This position allowed her to collaborate with businesses across the country, guiding them in achieving their business improvement goals.

During this period, Emily also cherished the valuable time spent with her family.

“Now that my daughter is turning 16 and is more independent, I have the time and space to refocus on my sales career.” she said.

Emily explained how her move to Elders Emms Mooney was a natural step following her family’s relocation to O’Connell, a town near Bathurst.

“Our decision to move from the city to O’Connell was motivated by the lifestyle we enjoyed on our weekends here and the strong sense of community we feel,” she said.

“I had already established solid working relationships with the Elders Emms Mooney team over the years, so making the choice to join them an obvious one. I didn’t  consider other options.”

“Some of these relationships have spanned almost 15 years and I have developed a great friendship with Patrick Bird, who is the managing director here.”

“I already feel very welcomed and part of the team, finding myself looking forward to coming into the office every day.”

Now having settled into her new role, Emily is focused on building her client base in and around Bathurst’s CBD.

“As a residential selling agent, I’m actively engaging with the community and seizing every opportunity to connect with potential clients,” she said.

It so happens, that the personal aspect of real estate is what Emily finds most rewarding.

“Selling a home is a significant milestone in anyone’s life, whether it's someone's first time or they’re a seasoned seller,” she said.
“It’s a process that involves a lot of emotion, finance, and time. I take great pride and pleasure in guiding and supporting people through this journey.”

When asked what advice she would impart on those aspiring to build a successful career in real estate, Emily emphasised the importance distinguishing oneself outside of the norm.

“Success in property management and sales is fundamentally about managing relationships,” she said.

“To stand out in the industry, you need to truly listen to your clients, understand their needs, and strive to exceed their expectations.”

Emily believes that the key to success lies in building trust, confidence, and a strong rapport.

“For me, this approach has been the winning formula. It's crucial to be seen as the best advisor in your field, fostering genuine connections and making yourself available to answer any queries your clients may have.”
