The Elders Wool team were delighted to welcome Gippsland wool growers to the Wool Selling Centre in Melbourne recently to offer two charity bales, with proceeds supporting Helimed Auxiliary.

The Gippsland wool growing group of around 30 were up early on Thursday 19 February, travelling from Elders Bairnsdale to the Wool Selling Centre in Brooklyn on a bus kindly donated by Dyson’s bus lines Bairnsdale.
Buyers were eager to place their bids on the sought after charity bales, donated by combined Gippsland wool growers.
The first bale sold weighed in at 171 kilograms (kg), measuring 17.6 microns and sold for 5600 c/kg to Modiano.
The second bale weighed in at 154 kg, measuring 18.3 microns and sold for 4000 c/kg to Endeavour.
A grand total of $15,736 raised.
District Wool Manager Madi Gallagher who organised the event along with retired District Wool Manager Mal Nichols said “it [Helimed Auxiliary] is especially close to the hearts of Gippslanders who rely on this fast quality care.”
“Almost every grower here knows someone or has used Helimed themselves,” said Madi.
This is the eighth year that the Gippsland wool growers have supported Helimed and coming into the auction the Gippsland growers had raised $85,979.50. This year’s two bales has pushed the total donated past $100,000 and will continue to help Helimed provide lifesaving support to rural communities.
Helimed first established in the Gippsland region of Victoria in the 1970s to provide mobile MICA paramedic ambulance transport and care. Helimed is incredibly important to not only the Gippsland area the wider regional community.
Elders would like to thank all of the wool growers of the charity bales, Dyson’s bus lines, all of our attendees, our charity bale buyers from Modiano and Endeavour and all who have helped support this great cause.
