Elders introduces in-house RWS certification pathway

Elders has entered a new phase in wool certification with the commencement of its own Elders Wool Group Certification pathway for the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).

The move represents a shift in how Elders can support woolgrowers through certification, bringing the process in-house while maintaining alignment with global standards. Most importantly, it is designed to deliver a more cost-effective and streamlined experience for clients, at a time when certification costs continue to rise across the supply chain.

Samantha Wan, wool quality assurance and marketing manager, said the new approach builds on Elders’ long-standing support for RWS while making the process more practical for clients.

Our Elders Wool Group Certification is a pathway that helps growers achieve Responsible Wool Standard certification,” Samantha said.

“It gives clients access to one of the most recognised wool certification programs in the world, while ensuring the process remains practical and commercially sustainable.”

Elders has been actively involved with RWS, including representation on the Textile Exchange Producer Advisory Group and participation in ongoing stakeholder engagement. The business has also supported clients through certification for several years, including early adopters coming on board as the standard was still gaining traction in Australia.

Previously, certification was delivered through external group arrangements or by supporting growers pursuing certification individually. The new model formalises that support and brings it under one program, allowing Elders to manage the process more directly and efficiently.

“It brings everything together into one cohesive offering,” Samantha said.

“By reducing duplication and improving efficiency, we can deliver a better outcome for growers.”

Elders will continue to work closely with certification stakeholders with support remaining in place for alternative RWS certification pathways and all other certifications. This ensures clients retain flexibility in how they approach certification, depending on their operation and market requirements.

As demand for traceability, animal welfare and sustainability credentials continues to grow, the strengthened certification offering is designed to help woolgrowers maintain access to global markets while ensuring the process remains commercially viable.
