Introducing Chloe Taylor

Chloe Taylor is a livestock trainee based at Elders St George, working across both livestock sales and production advice.

With a background in meat science and carcass assessment, Chloe has a strong interest in the red meat supply chain and is focused on helping producers improve quality and yield over the hooks.

She joined Elders just over six months ago, starting in Mackay before relocating to St George. She’s already covered plenty of ground.

“I’ve really enjoyed getting out on the road and seeing such a range of operations,” Chloe said.

“Each producer has a different approach, and learning what drives their decision-making has been a big part of my development.”

Eager to learn, Chloe says working alongside different teams across the business has been a highlight.

“Everyone’s been really open and generous with their knowledge,” she said.

Chloe is also part of the MLA Red Meat Ambassador program, an initiative designed to strengthen public understanding of the red meat industry.

“I joined because I think it’s important to help people reconnect with where their food comes from,” she said.

“There’s often a gap between producers and the general public, and I want to help bridge that.”

The program has given her insight into systems like Meat Standards Australia (MSA) and the chance to engage directly with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) as an industry body.

“One of the biggest takeaways so far is that there’s no single right way to do things, every business is different, and it’s the relationships you build that really count.”

In addition to her traineeship and ambassador work, Chloe recently led the organisation of the Elders Mackay Beef Expo, a free event for producers to connect, learn, and explore new opportunities.

“We wanted to create something that producers could take practical value from,” she said.

“We might not always have all the answers, but we can bring the right people together.”

The event drew a crowd of more than 250 people and featured speakers including Simon Quilty, independent livestock analyst, and Rob Inglis, Elders Livestock Production Manager.

“It was a big job pulling it all together, but hearing the feedback on the day made it all worth it,” Chloe said.

“Seeing producers connecting with speakers and each other, that’s what it was all about.”
