Alastair Mansfield is the branch manager and district wool manager at Elders Broken Hill.

Alastair grew up on a cattle property in the Blue Mountains and joined Elders in 2016 as a livestock trainee. Over the years, he has moved through various roles and locations, finally landing in Broken Hill in 2017.
“I’ve had the chance to experience so much of what our industry has to offer, and I really found my stride here,” Alastair said.
After putting down roots in Broken Hill, Alastair transitioned into wool and quickly realised that managing wool operations was where he wanted to be.
"This district is full of passionate growers, and I genuinely love getting to know my clients and understanding their needs,” he said.
Two years ago, Alastair expanded his role and became branch manager, allowing him to build strong relationships with clients across a vast area, from Wentworth to Tilpa and everything in between.
“Each day is different for me, but I enjoy the variety,” Alastair said.
"I spend time both in the office tackling paperwork and out on the road visiting clients. There’s nothing quite like that face-to-face interaction.”
One of the most exciting developments during Alastair’s tenure has been the establishment of Elders Wool, Elders’ state-of-the-art wool handling business.
“This has made a massive difference for our clients; no more waiting six weeks for test results, and we can now get clients’ wool to market much faster, which is a huge win,” he said.
“It’s all about giving our growers the competitive edge they deserve.”
Alastair’s dedication has not gone unnoticed within Elders, recently receiving the national sales award for 2024, a recognition he attributes to the support from his incredible team.
“Having a close-knit branch where everyone is passionate about what they do makes all the difference,” he said.
“At the end of the day, seeing my clients succeed is what makes this job so rewarding.
“Whether it’s improving their breeding programs or helping them invest in new infrastructure, I’m right there with them for the journey.”
