The lucky new owners of a Toyota Landcruiser have had their prize delivered, after winning the recent Elders canola seed competition.

Longstanding client Mike Shields from Glenvar Farms was delighted to receive the keys to his brand-new Toyota Landcruiser this week. He became eligible to win the vehicle after purchasing canola seed through Elders in a campaign held earlier in the year.
The Shields family runs a cropping business just outside Wongan Hills in Western Australia, and have been Elders clients for many years.
“I have bought canola from Elders for about 15 years,” Mike said.
“We put in 4000 hectares of canola this year of Nuseed Raptor and Hunter varieties, and our whole cropping program is 10,000 hectares, including wheat and barley.”
Of the new vehicle, Mike said it could not have come at a better time.
“I had ordered a Ranger ute about a year ago and I cancelled it at the start of April because it had been such a dry season, and I was planning to get something else at the end of the year. But then I got the call; I couldn’t believe it,” Mike said.
“Jeff Brennan, our branch manager, made the call, and I actually said to him I really need to win the Landcruiser because I don’t have a car.
“I have never had a Landcruiser before.”
In addition to the major prize, two Polaris Rangers have been delivered to their winners. The lucky growers are the Sheel family in Yarrawonga, Victoria, and Puntoriero Farming from West Wyalong in New South Wales.

Bill Moore, Elders Technical Services Manager – WA and Category Manager – Seed, said he has been delighted at the response to the campaign.
“The purpose of the campaign was to reiterate Elders’ commitment to supporting the canola industry,” Bill said.
“We are great supporters of all of the different types of canola whether it be around the GM, traditionally bred varieties, but mainly support hybrid canola production across Australia.
“We were really happy with the traction we got out of the campaign and the opportunity to showcase to the industry how versatile these products are across all states and all different environments.”
Elders National Category Manager – Seed, Chris Willis, agreed with Bill’s comments.
“It has been great to work with our canola seed suppliers to secure seed supply for our clients, with the added bonus of possibly winning a Landcruiser wagon or one of two Polaris side by sides,” Chris said.
“Canola seed selection is so important for our client production systems, and I like to thank our experienced Elders agronomists for their dedication and careful planning with clients to ensure the best success”
“Having research and development-backed suppliers supporting us like Nuseed, Pacific Seeds. RAGT, BASF and AGF seeds has allowed us to deliver such a great campaign.”
Thanks to the participating suppliers:
