Five minutes with Meg Rosenbaum

Livestock production advisor in-training Meg Rosenbaum shares her journey and progression with Elders, since starting in the Dubbo branch two years ago.

Meg Rosenbaum is a rural products sales representative based at Elders Warren who has gone from strength to strength in her two years with Elders.

Meg’s passion for animal health started at a young age, as a keen horsewoman. She also worked in beef cattle feedlots throughout New South Wales.

“I worked with 10,000 to 20,000 head of cattle daily and was responsible for the diagnosis of animal health and disease symptoms, induction processes, as well as preparing and allocating high quality feed rations to the cattle, ensuring the efficiency of feed production,” said Meg.

Meg started her career with Elders as a sales support officer in Dubbo, and worked closely alongside Donny Hayden, who showed her the ropes in animal health at Elders. Then, earlier this year, Meg headed west to Warren to help open a new branch.

“Fred Langby offered me a position in Warren to assist with the branch set-up. It has been a fantastic opportunity, and I am very grateful,” said Meg.

Meg is currently undertaking in-house training with Elders which will one day see her become a livestock production specialist.

“The farming dynamic in this region is quite variable, so we can come across tricky situations,” Meg said.

“The training allows us to be practical and hands-on, covering everything from vaccination techniques to the application of chemical, to covering the technical side of ruminant health, parasite and disease control.

"Most importantly, the training helps us adapt our knowledge and processes to difference scenarios."

“We have undertaken a combination of online training and hands-on application days, which allows us to network with likeminded people, sharing ideas, and generating solutions for some tricky situations, so this has been a great pathway for me.”

Meg said mentorship has played a key role in her career with Elders to date.

“Livestock production coordinator David Trengove is one of the key driving forces behind the program I am completing. It’s amazing what he is trying to do with growing the division,” Meg said.

“It’s fantastic to see more women becoming involved in this space, too; there are seven people in our seminars, and they are all female!

“The training and support I have received from David, Donny and Fred, and everyone else throughout the network, has really improved my confidence and my ability to build my business.

“It’s nice to have someone that can reassure you and help with another perspective so we can give the best possible outcome to the graziers.”
